LAGOS FASHION WEEK, NIGERIA

With their amazing, innovative and wacky and wild collections, pristine hair and make-up, gorgeous models and fashionable crowds, you might think that fashion shows are just one big glamorous party, right?

Well not quite so, it may seem like that if your lucky enough to be sat front row but backstage and front of house for designers, models stylists, photographers, light and sound engineers, (and that’s just to name a few) fashion shows are extremely demanding, very grueling, and require endlessly long hours of dedication to ensure the collections and shows are presented flawlessly.

Africa’s largest fashion week, Lagos Fashion Week, is no different from that of London, New York or Paris, it simply runs in its own unique African way and on African time! I was lucky enough recently to shoot backstage and squeeze in the photographers pit to capture all the action at Lagos Fashion Week 2018.

Lagos Fashion Week is a fashion platform that drives the Nigerian fashion industry.

It leads the way with initiatives that support, strengthen and develop the fashion industry by bringing together buyers, consumers and the media to view the current collections of designers in the capital of Lagos, Nigeria.

Lagos Fashion Week was founded in 2011 by Omoyemi Akerele.
